BlackMagic Design has added a 4K, 16-inch monitor to its SmartView range of rack-mount screens.
The new production monitor supports UHD, at 3,840 x 2,160, over SDI. The screen connects via two 12G SDI inputs, which support resolutions from standard definition up to 4K. There is also a 12G SDI loop through for connecting to a second screen or other equipment, and a socket for an SDI fibre module, for direct connection to fibre-based systems.
The screen can be managed via ethernet, using the supplied Mac and PC software, as well as controlled via its front panel buttons. These include input and brightness controls as well as the ability to select LUTs to match different camera outputs.
The Smartview 4K is finished in the same grey metallic aluminium as BlackMagic Design’s other rack hardware, such as the ATEM switchers and Hyperdeck recorders. The SmartView 4K can be powered, either via the mains, or via a 12V source such as a battery pack, so it can be used in the field. Pricing for the screen is expected to be around £1250 ex VAT.
Other monitoring hardware launched by BlackMagic Design at IBC includes the MultiView 16, which combines up to 16 SDI, HD-SDI and 6G-SDI signals into one. Monitoring is via four SDI outputs or one HDMI output, which can be used at the same time. There are also 16 video loop throughs over SDI. All SDI outputs support reclocking. The MultiView 16 will sell for around £950.
Blackmagic also announced a new 4K, DeckLink Extreme video card. The PCI-e card, DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G captures up to full cinema 4K, at 4096 x 2160, over dual 12G SDI connectors. There are two 12G SDI outputs, and an HDMI video input and output, with support for HDMI audio and video up to UHD at 60fps. The interface is an eight-lane Gen 2 PCI Express format. The card will cost around £950.
