NEC has updated its range of professional, “Performance Application” displays aimed at design and imaging work.

The screens, based around a 10-bit AH-IPS panel and GB-R LED backlights, are available in 24 inch (PA242W), 27 (PA272W) and 30 inch ((PA302W)) models. According to NEC, the screens display a wider colour gamut than most monitors, closely maching the industry-standard AdobeRGB colour space. The screens will have more even colour and more stable backlighting, as well as a longer life than previous models.

The screens support DisplayLink Pro USB connectivity, as well as Picture-by-Picture for allowing one display to control output from multiple devices. The screens will have HDMI, DVI and Displayport inputs, and a three-port USB hub.

NEC also claims that the new screens will use less power than earlier models, primarily because of the GB-R backlight.

Shipping will start with the 24-inch, PA242W, model in August, and the 27 and 30-inch displays in September; the US price for the 24-inch screen is $1049. A model with a Spectraview colour calibration device will cost $1299 for the 24-inch screen.
