Video review: the Røde Stereo VideoMic X

Røde’s Stereo VideoMic X is the new, flagship, on-camera mic from the Australian manufacturer. The Stereo VideoMic X (or SVMX for short) is based around a pair of matched, half-inch condenser mic capsules, arranged in the X-Y configuration favoured for stereo recording.

Housed in a sturdy metal mount, and equipped with its own 9v-powered pre-amp, as well as the ability to work with phantom power, the SVMX promises to add quality soundscapes to any video shoot. But how well does it measure up?

In this video review, we put the Stereo VideoMic X to the test in the studio, via a sound recorder and direct to camera, and take it out in the field.

For the full details of the mic, see our written review of the Stereo VideoMic X too.
